About

Aidan McDonah is a Canadian artist based in Nova Scotia. Currently a fourth year undergraduate student at the NSCAD University with a background in animation, McDonah’s artistic practice is focused in oil painting and filmmaking.

McDonah was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and moved to the town of Truro at a young age. His work is informed by growing up in rural environments with his family and his interest in expressionist paintings. His work analyses memories of familiar locations now changed from how they once appeared in archived family media. His work is evidenced through large scale oil paintings and short films where he used said archived material as foundations for his process.

McDonah’s first exhibition Dogtown was displayed at the Anna Leonowens gallery in 2022.
